FANS of A Series of Unfortunate Events rejoice as the second season of the show airs TODAY.
Despite the disappointment of the 2004 film, the Netflix TV series starring Neil Patrick Harris has proven a hit. Here's everything we know so far about the upcoming season…
Netflix Netflix has announced a second season of A Series of Unfortunate Events
When is A Series of Unfortunate Events season 2 on Netflix?
Netflix has announced the second season will air TODAY (March 30).
Unlike the first season, series two will have just seven episodes.
All seven will be released at once.
Due to its phenomenal success, season three has already been confirmed.
What is A Series of Unfortunate Events about?
A Series of Unfortunate Events is based on the novel series by Lemony Snicket, which is the pen name for author Daniel Handler.
The story follows the lives of three children: Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire.
At the beginning, the children learn that both their parents have died in a huge fire, which also destroyed their family home.
The orphans are then placed in the care of Count Olaf – a distant "relative" they've never met.
After a short while at the Count's house, it is clear he not only has a disdain for children, but he's also after their fortune.
While the kids manage to get removed from his care, Count Olaf continues to appear wherever they are sent.
As the story develops, the orphans learn more and more about their parents' past – and it's nothing like they'd ever imagined.

Who's in the A Series of Unfortunate Events cast and which characters do they play?
Neil Patrick Harris
A familiar face on TV and on the big screen, Neil Patrick Harris is most famous for his roles in How I Met Your Mother and Gone Girl.
The American actor leads the cast of Lemony Snicket's classic, starring as the villainous Count Olaf.
His sinister character is a failed thespian who is after the orphans' enormous fortune.
Throughout the series, Count Olaf adopts a plethora of ridiculous disguises – which somehow manage to fool the adults taking care of the children.
Known for his roles in American sitcom Seinfeld and Rules of Engagement, Patrick Warburton plays narrator Lemony Snicket in the Netflix series.
Viewers may also recognise his voice as that of Joe Swanson from Family Guy.
Lemony Snicket is the pen name for the author of the books, who is also a fictitious investigator in the story itself.
He traces the movements of the Baudelaire orphans and delves into the mystery surrounding their parents' deaths.
Rex Features Alison Williams confirmed she will be a part of the new season
New to the A Series of Unfortunate Events cast, Alison Williams' character has yet to be confirmed.
Fans have predicted she will play Lemony's sister Kit.
Alison is best known for her roles as Marnie Michaels in Girls and for her part in Get Out.
The actress posted an Instagram photo of herself with Malina Weissman (Violet Baudelaire) and Girls co-star Lena Dunham.
Malina is a 15-year-old American actress and model.
She plays Violet, the eldest of the three Baudelaire orphans.
Violet Baudelaire is a young inventor, whose ingenuity helps the trio escape from Count Olaf's clutches on several occasions.
It is also noteworthy that the children will receive a huge fortune, but only when Violet turns 18.
Louis is a 16-year-old British actor who plays the middle Baudelaire child, Klaus.
Klaus is a bespectacled bookworm who has read up on almost every subject.
His research also comes in handy when the orphans are trying to figure out a way to escape from Count Olaf.
Netflix The Baudelaire orphans continually try and rid themselves of Count Olaf
