Robert Pattinson was born in London on May 13, 1986 as the third child and only son of Richard and Clare Pattinson. His foray into showbiz began in local London theater productions and modeling. Shortly thereafter, he landed his first film job, acting in the 2004 movie “Vanity Fair” with future “Water For Elephants” co-star Reese Witherspoon. His scenes, however, were cut from the theatrical release.
Pattinson scored far more screen time when he was cast in 2005’s “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” as Cedric Diggory. Three years later, Pattinson scored his own teen franchise and rose to superstardom when he landed the role of Edward Cullen in 2008’s “Twilight,” and life as he knew it was never the same again. Pattinson became a household name, a favorite among young girls, and one of Hollywood’s highest-paid actors as the “Twilight Saga”, which went on to include “New Moon,” “Eclipse,” “Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” and “Breaking Dawn – Part 2,” became a mega-franchise. At the same time, Pattinson worked on other films like “Remember Me” and “Bel Ami,” and teamed up with “Cosmopolis” filmmaker David Cronenberg, who would later direct the star again in “Maps to the Stars.”
Pattinson began a high-profile relationship with “Twilight” co-star Kristen Stewart in 2008, but the two didn’t officially acknowledged they were dating until July, 2012, when photos emerged of Stewart kissing her “Snow White and the Huntsman” director, Rupert Sanders. The actress issued a public apology to Pattinson about her indiscretion, but the couple split after the incident. In September 2014, Pattinson started dating singer FKA Twigs, a fellow Brit. The two got engaged in April 2015, but went their separate ways in 2017.
Following the “Twilight” films, Pattinson became the face of a Dior fragrance, and continued his film career with “The Rover.” He was slated to spend the last weeks of 2014 filming “Idol’s Eye” with Robert De Niro but, as Gossip Cop was first to report, the funding for the project fell apart. Instead, Pattinson traveled the globe with then-girlfriend FKA Twigs. He’s since appeared in such films as “Queen of the Desert,” “Life,” “The Childhood of a Leader” and “The Lost City of Z.”
In January 2016, Pattinson appeared in a campaign for Dior Homme and was later announced as the first ambassador of Dior Homme Menswear. The actor also dabbles in music. He provided two songs on the Twilight soundtrack, “Never Think” and “Let Me Sign.” He also played the guitar on the 2013 Death Grips song “Birds.” Pattinson’s 2008 film “How to Be” also features three of the actor’s original songs. He’ll also be contributing music to his upcoming film “Damsel,” which is slated for released later in 2017. He’s also starring in the 2017 crime-drama “Good Time,” while future projects in-development include the thrillers “The Trap” and “High Life.”
